Eating healthy can be very expensive, but you can still eat healthy on a budget income, here are 6 ways to do that.
Use Coupons
Cut coupons for local stores in your area, the best place to find coupons is in your Sunday paper, be sure you understand the store’s policies for different types of coupons and how to redeem them.
Some shoppers have perfected the art of shopping with coupons to the point that they spend very little or no money on grocery shopping. With a little time and patience, you too can master the art of coupon shopping.
Don’t Shop When You’re Hungry
We all heard that old cliche don’t shop when you’re hungry
because it could cause you to stray from what you originally went there to buy, going to the store hungry could cause impulse buying and craving foods that aren’t good for you, and cause you to buy a lot more than you need.
Buy Generic Brands
I believe most stores carry a generic brand that meets the same standers as the national brands, they all have to follow certain safety standers, double check the ingredients list, of the generic products that you buy to the national brand ingredients to compare quality.
Plan your meals
If you plan your meals before you go to the grocery store you can save quite a bit of money, check out your cabinet and refrigerator to see what you already have,no need to buy stuff you already have there could be food in there that you forgot about, take a day and make out a grocery list only buy what you know your going to use.
Cook at Home
Cooking at home is way cheaper than going out to eat, what a meal cast when you go out to eat you could buy enough food to possibly feed a family of 4 for what that meal coast just to feed you or 3 people.
Make time on the weekend to cook in bulk, for the upcoming week, this could save you time and money, and the leftovers can be frozen and used later for quick meals, and by cooking your own food you will know what you put in it.
Eat less meat
Meat can be very expensive and very disastrous to your budget, cut back on the number of times per week you serve meat, try alternative protein foods like legumes, Black beans, Quinoa, Green Pea’s, and eggs, they are inexpensive and easy to make and very nutritious and high in protein.

Cathy
This post reminds me of my college days when money was tight. My favorite way of eating on a budget is to cook at home. I usually cooked in bulk and divided the meal into three portions, froze it to make it last for the following meals.
It can be a bit boring eating the same thing all over again but I’ve learned to manage. Even to this day, I am a big fan of cooking at home because I can tailored to the exact ingredients while keeping my health in check.

Eat Healthy on a Budget
Hi, Cathy for me money is still a little tight.
One of the ways I eat on a budget is a local restaurant, named Boston Market.
They have this special on all the time when you buy a meal during the week, you get to buy one get one free on Saturday.
That meal consists of 2 sides a choice of, chicken, meat loaf, turkey, a corn bread, and ribs. I take and make for meals out of the two.
And they don’t have to be the same. Other times I cook bulk and freeze it for other meals.
Thank you for stopping by.
Cheers

These are really great tips for everyone, not just seniors. Eating healthy might be expensive but it’s worth it in the long-run. If you take care of your health in your younger years, you’ll definitely be better off in the senior years.
I absolutely agree, you can definitely eat healthy on a budget. Taking short cuts when it comes to your health is definitely a no-no.
Coupons can definitely make eating healthy affordable and I think you definitely need a list when you go grocery shopping, or else you’ll end up buying more than you actually need.
I never really thought about planning meals ahead of grocery shopping, so that’s new for me. Thanks for these great tips.
